Redeemer West Side

WS Class :: Race, the Bible, and the Body of Christ

Sorry, registration is not available at this time.

The topic of race surfaces many uncomfortable and conflicting thoughts and emotions. But Scripture reminds us that God has given the church both the vision and resources to discuss race in a way that is humble, gracious and gentle so that we can grow into greater maturity and unity as a people belonging to Christ. We will seek to explore race in a way that is biblically grounded as well as mindful of our unity in Christ.

"I therefore… urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” (Eph 4:1-3, ESV)

This 5-week class will equip us with:

  • A biblically based understanding of race that reflects God’s vision for his church and the world
  • An understanding of how different people experience race as a component of their lives, and why people have different views and feelings on race
  • A biblically informed understanding about some of the cultural approaches and dialogues happening around race

Our fifth session, on March 24, will be led by Rev. Irwyn Ince, author of The Beautiful Community. Rev. Ince serves as the Executive Director of the Grace DC Institute for Cross-Cultural Mission (ICCM) and as a pastor in the Grace DC Network. Grace DC Network is a member of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).
