Practices of PEACE

As we Pause together during the month of February, join us for a guided tour to learn the history and celebrate contributions of African American and Black people in NYC. This tour is meant to be a way to reflect on the deep heritage of African American and Black people in our city, with a special focus on the slave trade and the exciting history of how a band of brave men and women formed the networks that became the Underground Railroad here in NYC. Together, we will listen to tales of courage and triumph and discover the stories of real New Yorkers who risked their lives and properties to help people escape slavery on this historical New York City walking tour.

Date: Sunday, February 21, 1-3 p.m.

About Your Tour Guide: Brooklyn native and Columbia University graduate Stacey Toussaint is the founder of Inside Out Tours, an award-winning company that specializes in hidden-history tours of NYC. Stacey started her career as an assistant producer of documentaries for a major television network. She then worked for 10 years as a lawyer before pursuing her true love and launching Inside Out Tours.

Duration: 1.5 miles

Cost: $15 (If you need assistance with the cost, please contact esformation@redeemer.com before registering.)

How to Prepare: Please wear comfortable walking shoes and warm clothing, as we’ll spend the time outdoors. Please also visit a restroom beforehand.

Health and Safety Measures: We’ll gather in small, mask-wearing social distanced groups. Please don’t attend if you don’t feel well or will have traveled outside the tri-state area in the past 10 days.
