Opening Prayer

Almighty Father, grant that your Church, being bound together in love and obedience to you, may be united in one body by the one Spirit, that the world may believe in him whom you have sent, your Son Jesus Christ our Lord; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. (BCP 255)

Scripture Reading

John 1:29-31

29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! 30 This is the one I meant when I said, ‘A man who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’ 31 I myself did not know him, but the reason I came baptizing with water was that he might be revealed to Israel.”

Reflection Questions

1. What did John call Jesus?

2. In the Old Testament, what did they do with lambs? Why would John call Jesus the “Lamb of God”?

3. Baptism is an outward sign showing that we’ve decided to follow God. What is another way you can show that you’re following God? Perhaps reading your Bible, or telling your friends about Jesus?

Kid’s Catechism #67

Q: What did these sacrifices represent?
A: Christ, the Lamb of God, who would come to die for sinners.

Prayer of Intercession

Church Community

  • Pray for the church friends that you see on Sunday. Pray that you can become better friends throughout the year and that you can find ways to help them follow Jesus.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
