Nicole Harris
Music and Worship Assistant
Sunday Service Volunteer Coordinator

Nicole Harris grew up in San Dimas, California: “Home to Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure. Am I dating myself?” she says. While in college, Nicole took a radio internship and became hooked on the business side of the industry. She moved to NYC with a job in a management company and has been freelancing in music production ever since. Nicole has lived in New York a total of eight years, though she left the city for a while before coming back five years ago.

As our Music and Worship Assistant and Sunday Service Volunteer Coordinator, Nicole supports both our Music Director and our Events and Volunteer Manager. You can find Nicole helping with payroll and interoffice communications, while also organizing music forums for professional and student congregants and keeping things running smoothly for the volunteers and operation staff at our Sunday services. “I love being able to support a church that has been such a blessing to me,” says Nicole. “NYC is so amazing and full of wonderful distractions. Redeemer's teachings make it feasible for me to live in such a stimulating city while keeping my sensibilities and heart based in Christ.”

Favorite WS Spots: Mermaid Inn and B. Café.

Vision
As a church of Jesus Christ, Redeemer exists to help build a great city for all people through a gospel movement that brings personal conversion, community formation, social justice and cultural renewal to New York City and, through it, to the world.

Hello ,

Having just finished Jon Meacham’s biography on Thomas Jefferson, I was struck again last Tuesday (Election Day) at just how unique American democracy is as I watched my neighbors lining up to vote at our local school.  Of course there are spiritual dangers in politics of becoming overly despondent when ‘our’ candidate loses or overly elated when she wins. In other words, if Christians forget that they are first and foremost citizens of God’s kingdom it will make them less effective citizens of their local community. Which means at least remembering that God in his words calls Christians to:

  • Remember and bear witness to the fact that Jesus is sovereign king of history who transcends political parties. (Isaiah 9:6)
  • Pray for their leaders regardless of party. (1 Timothy 2:1-3)
  • Work for the peace and flourishing of all of our neighbors regardless of who holds political power. (Mark 12:30-31)

That should keep us busy until the next election.

He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. – Micah 6:8

In Christ,

Rev. David Bisgrove
