Subject: West Side Update - March 25
March 25, 2013
Len Cicio is a fine artist living in Inwood, Manhattan. He spent over 25 years exploring other industries before finally coming back to his true passion—fine art. Len's main objective is to display the beauty of the risen Christ and the color of love though the landscapes and nature of Inwood.
Len's been involved at Redeemer for many years. He's been particularly influenced by the Center for Faith & Work's Entrepreneurship Initiative, which has given him the skills to become an entrepreneur through launching a website and marketing his work. He is grateful for the community of Ei in helping him understand the bigger picture of motivating and drawing people to God. Len now has his permit to sell his artwork on the streets of NYC and has an exhibition at the Hudson Park Library this fall.

To build a great city for all people through a gospel movement that brings personal conversion, community formation, social justice and cultural renewal to New York City and, through it, to the world.
The journey that began on Ash Wednesday has taken us to Jerusalem. We have followed Jesus on his road during Lent, and yesterday (Palm Sunday) heard the cries of the crowd, “Blessed is the King who comes” (Luke 19). In the midst of the frenzy that followed his entrance we see Jesus weeping (Luke 19:41), angry (Luke 19:45), prophesying (Luke 21:6) and praying (Luke 22:41). Prophet, Priest and King. As we approach the solemnity of Good Friday, perhaps the best thing we can do is heed Jesus’ own words that he uttered to three close friends in Gethsemane— “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.” (Matthew 26:38). Sit with Jesus this week. Read the gospel accounts of the days leading up to his crucifixion. Experience his sorrow. The sorrow caused by our sin. George Herbert, reflecting on Christ’s sorrow, penned these words in his poem “The Sacrifice”,
All my disciples fly; fear puts a bar
“Father, forgive them…” – Luke 23:34
