Yesterday at our Sunday services, Rev. Andrew Field was installed and introduced. Drew is the new West Side Executive Pastor.

Drew Field was a founding member of Redeemer, in 1989, and joined the pastoral staff in 1995. After five years, he and his family moved to California to plant a church in Silicon Valley, where he and his wife Donna raised four children: Timothy, Sarah, Elizabeth and James.

Drew returns to New York City now with Donna and his youngest child, James, after serving as executive pastor at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Charlottesville, Virginia.

As Executive Pastor of the West Side congregation, Drew will support and guide the West Side staff to help all of the ministries thrive, including the new sites launched over the next decade. “You should see me on Sundays and also behind the scenes,” Drew says, “as an advisor, coach and champion for our great leaders."

Drew and Donna love to explore new places and are looking forward to showing James the highlights of the city, like the 79th St. Green Market, and discovering new favorites.

Vision
As a church of Jesus Christ, Redeemer exists to help build a great city for all people through a movement of the gospel that brings personal conversion, community formation, social justice and cultural renewal to New York City and, through it, to the world.

Hello ,

In just a few hours, hundreds of children, volunteers and staff will descend upon W83 for the 2016 Vacation Bible School. The energy, emotion and excitement from those children will fill the building and neighborhood all week as a tangible expression of Redeemer’s vision. As you know, at the heart of our mission is an increase in the number of churches and Christians throughout NYC so that God’s kingdom “would come on earth as it is in heaven.” And it’s those hundreds of largely native New Yorkers who will carry the torch of God’s vision forward over the next 50 years.

VBS is not just a five-day summer program for a subset of our community, but an investment in the church and city of the future. So I want to thank all the volunteers and our amazing Children’s Ministry staff from across the three congregations for their commitment and love for our children. And I want to ask you to pray this week that every child who walks through those doors would come to know Jesus in a deeper way.

Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them fade from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them. - Deuteronomy 4:9

In Christ,

Rev. David Bisgrove (at)David_Bisgrove

Prayer

How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord Almighty! My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. - Psalm 84:1-2

Father, we pray:

  • That you would meet the children and volunteers at VBS this week so they come to know you more deeply and see your son Jesus, the light of the world
  • That you would be near to the people of Baton Rouge, Falcon Heights, and Dallas—and across the country—as we long and strive for justice and peace
  • That you would give your people wisdom, courage and hope for lives of mercy and justice to bring your kingdom on earth as it is in heaven
