Hello ,

I am writing this note to simply say thank you to everyone who over the last few months have said “I’m In” to pray, engage and give as part of the Rise campaign. For you, it may have meant volunteering for the first time; or it may have meant attending the Intro to Redeemer class; or you may have hosted or attended a Neighborhood Gathering. And you may have prayed along with many others for our vision as a church or even pledged financial support. All of which reminds me of how Dietrich Bonhoeffer described gratitude:

“In normal life we hardly realize how much more we receive than we give, and life cannot be rich without such gratitude. It is so easy to overestimate the importance of our own achievements compared with what we owe to the help of others.”

As someone whose contribution is more public than most, I am profoundly aware that most of the fruit God brings about in and through our congregation is the result of the faithful service of hundreds of people like you whose lives have been changed by the gospel. I receive so much more from you than I could possibly give back, so thank you for all that you do for Jesus in our church and city. And please continue to pray as we together seek to build upon what God has already done through his church in New York City.

I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. -Philippians 1:3-6

In Christ,

David Bisgrove
West Side Congregation Lead Pastor

Thank you for praying with us through this season of the Rise campaign as we seek to love and serve the city. And thank you for praying this final week as we hoped to reach our goal of 2,500 pledges. To date, 2,748 households have pledged to support this vision financially, and we've received $32,016,464.26 in pledges. Let us continue to pray that God would work in and through our church for the greater good of the city.

Prayers of the People book
During the Rise campaign, we've talked about making a commitment to pray for, engage with and give to this vision of gospel renewal in the city. We started the Rise campaign in prayer because we could never accomplish all we hope to accomplish through our own power. We must continue in prayer because it's the only way we will increasingly become more like our God who calls us to help bring peace and flourishing to the whole city. We've recently given out a brand new book, Prayers of the People, a month's worth of morning and evening prayers written by more than 60 Redeemerites. As we seek to respond to God’s call to love and serve New York City, we hope that everyone will use this book as an encouragement to pray together for this vision. If you haven't received a book, we’ll have them at the Book Table during coffee hour while supplies last.

Here are some ways you might engage with our vision for the city in the weeks and months ahead:

Stories More than ever before, we are excited to actively invite our friends, families, and neighbors who do not know Christ to hear the gospel at Redeemer.
