Jenna Wilson, Associate Recruiter
Children's Ministry preschool volunteer

Jenna Wilson is originally from Maryland and attended college in Iowa. She has lived in New York City for four years—from Washington Heights to Harlem to Morningside Heights—and has been serving as a preschool teacher in the Children’s Ministry since she first began attending Redeemer.

She says that Redeemer has challenged her to figure out why she believes what she believes and now has a better sense of what being a Christian means. And working with the children on Sundays has been important to her. “There is nothing like hearing a room full of children scream, ‘Jesus!’ while worshiping. Music to my ears!” she ays.

Jenna is an associate recruiter at an advertising agency and manages the intern programs throughout the year. She also does the junior recruiting for the agency. “It’s a lot, but I enjoy being able to help young people find jobs.”

Jenna is also an apprentice of her community group, which she joined a year and a half ago, and now has friendships she never knew were possible. “New York has a way of beating you down pretty hard. That's the challenging part, deciding whether it's worth fighting for or not. I guess since I'm still here I find it is worth fighting for, but I only choose this because of the community of strong people I've met through church.”

As a church of Jesus Christ, Redeemer exists to help build a great city for all people through a movement of the gospel that brings personal conversion, community formation, social justice and cultural renewal to New York City and, through it, to the world.
Hello ,

The summer months generally bring a slower pace and much needed time away. Many of our regular ministry activities operate on a more relaxed schedule to allow our volunteers to recharge their batteries. However, the bulk of our work continues throughout the summer, not only through our four worship services each week, but pastoral support of our Community Groups, service to our families and surrounding community, and service through HFNY and our Diaconate. For example, this past week at W83 approximately 260 children were served by 260 volunteers and staff in our annual Vacation Bible School. Thank you to all who helped make that possible. We are also diligently working on plans for the upcoming 2015-16 Ministry Year, including preparing for our Beta Group launch, plans for a potential new site, and finalizing a strategic plan that prepares our congregation for the future.

All that to say, while many of you may be in and out during these weeks, please remember to financially support the work of the church during the summer months as our expenses remain fixed and giving often lags (please clickhere). In addition, please pray for our staff and leaders as we gear up for the year ahead, that we might be good stewards of what we have been given and wise in our planning. (Click here for resources on prayer.)

Thank you so much for all the ways you support the work of the West Side Congregation and Redeemer’s larger vision and have a great week!

I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.  – Philippians 1:3-5

In Christ,

Rev. David Bisgrove
